JAPAN BRIDGE TOUR 2007
Be Here Now

Being suspended at 30,000 feet has a way of bringing you into the moment. This is my sixth trip to Japan. My second "major" tour. I remember my first real trip here, where every little detail rang with poetic urgency. Filled with expectations. Pre-conceived notions. But the beauty of having gone now as many times as I have, is that each time it seems that I'm less encumbered with both memories of the past, and expectations of the future. Yet the magic of the moment, and moments, remain.

今この瞬間に
3万フィート上空で、ある瞬間を待っている。今回は私の６回目の日本訪問だ。私の2回目の「大々的な」ツアーだ。私は、初めての日本旅行を思い出す。どんな些細なことも、まるで詩のようだった。期待と事前に聞かされていたことで一杯だった。素晴らしいのは、日本に行く度に、過去の経験や、先の事への期待に囚われることがなくなったことだった。しかし、この瞬間のマジックは、残っているけれど。

I think of how fortunate I am, to be leading a life that not only allows me the freedom to do this, but has fostered being drawn to Asia itself. And in that, a renewed perspective of myself, and my home.
私は、自分がどんなに恵まれているかと考える。アジアに魅了され、日本ツアーを敢行できるほどの自由な人生､そして、新たな自分と自分の国に対する考え。

Long-time friend & musician - Hiro, taking us out on our 1st night out on the town...
I'm also fortunate to have the many people in my life that have made this trip, and what I do, possible – the people at my 'day job,' Atusko san -my translator, tutor, and assistant, Hiro san, Duane, our road manager, the folks at DelOro Music in LA, Taeko san, Satomi san, and last but not least, the BAND – Christina Rasch and Jessica Fagre.
昔からの友人でミュージシャンであるひろが、1日目の夜、町に連れて行ってくれた。
私は、このツアーを可能にしてくれた、たくさんの人に恵まれている。－私の「普段の仕事」あつこさん、私の通訳、日本語の家庭教師、そして、アシスタント、ひろさん、Duane、私たちのロードマネージャー、ロサンジェルスのDelOro Musicの人たち、たえこさん、さとみさん、そして、バンドのメンバー、クリスティーンとジェシカ。

DAY 1
１日目

The first day began with an irreverent walk to the Imperial Palace.
１日目は、皇居へのちょっと失礼な訪問から始まった。

Then our first show in Tokyo/Akihabara - at DressTokyo.
そして、私たちの初めてのショー、東京、秋葉原のDressTokyo。

DAY 2 - Tokyo's Meguro district
２日目　－　東京、目黒。

Before the show, the real deal - at a lovely, family-run sushi bar around the corner.
ショーの前に、大好きな、すてきな、家族経営の、すぐ角のすしバー。

The show was at MapleHouse in Meguro. We did an hour show to a packed house and came back for an encore. THE CROWD WAS AWESOME!!! And the first bands were great - There was an acoustic/electric named MAH with great vocals and instrumentation, and a Clapton tribute band called LAID BACK HOURS that was fun too.
ショーは目黒のMapleHouseで行われた。お客さんで一杯のライブハウスで演奏して、アンコールにも応えた。お客さんは素晴らしかった!!!　そして、最初に演奏したバンドはとても良かった　－　アコースティック、エレクトリックのバンドでMAHと言う名前だった。素晴らしい歌と演奏で、クラプトントリビュートバンド、LAID BACK HOURSも楽しかった。

DAY 3 -
Jet-lag and excitement continue to rob us of sleep, but the momentum seems to be more than making up for it. Hiro san came to escort us for some sightseeing before making our way to the live house for the show later on.
First, we went to Ueno Park for that must-see event - cherry blossom viewing, or "o-hanami." It is truly spectacular to see, but when you're in it, when you're there, surrounded by the colors, the people, there is a deeper resonance in participating in such a time-honored tradition, that honors that part of us that seeks out beauty, and comaraderie, and somehow a perfect stillness exists in the hustle-bustle of tens of thousands of people, all going to the same place for the same thing.
3日目
時差と興奮で私たちは眠れず、でも、私たちは精力的に活動した。ひろさんは、ショーの前に観光に連れて行ってくれた。
始めに、私たちは上野公演に、どうしても見逃せないイベント、お花見にいった。本当に壮観だった。でも、そこで、桜の色や、人々に囲まれていると、歴史的に尊敬された伝統に深く共鳴する。それは、美しさと、何か共通のものを求める私たちの心を重んじる。そして、何千人もの人々が同じ場所で同じことを騒がしくするなかで、どうしてか、完全な静寂が存在している。

From Ueno, we went to Asakusa - one of the last stronholds of traditional Japan in Tokyo - with Temples, shrines, a Tori gate, hundreds of food, clothing, and souvenier booths, and of course, thousands of people, taking in a sunny, Sunday afternoon. We enjoyed yaki soba and then gave the octupus dumpling balls a try - actually quite good!
上野から私たちは浅草へ行った。浅草は、最後に残った､数少ない東京での伝統的な日本があるところだ。寺、神社、鳥居、たくさんの食べ物、服、お土産や、そして、もちろん、天気のいい日曜日を楽しむ何千人もの人々。私たちは焼きそばを楽しんだ後、たこ焼きに挑戦してみた。それは、結構いけた！

そら（さろさんのバンドの、すばらしい歌手／バイオリニスト）とジェシカとクリスティーナ。

It was a memorable night at the show at Soundstream in Chiba. It felt like a homecoming, with Hiro san having arranged everything - First a jazzy, acoustic/electric band called AMBITION SOUND played, then "Hiro and Nana" acoustic guitar and violin, with superb vocals. Hiro san just had to play a song by our mutual friend, a singer-songwriter diva that I wrote "I Let Her In" about, and who also broke my heart...It was an emotional song to hear, and very beatitful. Then, Okano san's band ODDS 'N' SODS played and kicked it out with blistering versions of country-alt cover tunes, and their own songs, too.
千葉のSoundstream は、思い出に残る夜だった。まるで、ホームタウンに戻ってきたように感じた。ひろさんが全てアレンジしてくれた。最初は、ジャジーで、アコースティック、エレクトリックなバンドAMBITION SOUNDが演奏した。そして、Hiro and Nana、アコースティックギターとバイオリンと素晴らしい歌。ひろさんは、私たちの共通の友人、シンガーソングライター「ディーバ」の1曲を演奏しなければいけなかった。私の"I Let Her In"という曲は彼女の事を書いた曲だ。そして、私は彼女にハードブレークした。その曲はエモーショナルな曲でとても美しい。そして、岡野さんのバンドODDS 'N' SODSはカントリー音楽のとても熱いカバーとオリジナルの曲を演奏した。

Our set was again an hour long, and once again we were honored to be called back for an encore. It was truly a memorable night...
At one point, in between songs, I pulled out the digital camera and took pictures of the crowd, they were AWESOME!!!
私たちの時間は1時間で、また、光栄なことにアンコールに呼ばれ応えることができた。本当に思い出深い夜だった。
曲の合間に、デジタルカメラを持ち出して、観客の写真を撮った。みんな、素晴らしかった!!

DAY 4 - (day off / train to Hakone)
Still buzzing from the excitement of the last couple of shows, we made our way to the Shinkansen/Bullet Train to go to Hakone – a beautiful mountain, hot-spring town in the shadow of Mt. Fuji – for a day off. As it happens, the day was cool, overcast, and the higher up the mountain our taxi took us to get to the ryokan/inn, fog enveloped us as well as a　fine drizzle, perfect weather for soaking in the beautiful, outdoor hot springs. The meals there were amazing – a feast for the eyes, as well as the body.
And our hostess – Michiko – was an absolute sweetheart. She spoke to the girls in English, and to me in Japanese, and called me "Michele" after gracing me with her version of the beatles song "michelle, my belle" .
4日目（休み、箱根へ電車の旅）
今までのショーの興奮も冷めやらぬまま、私たちは新幹線で箱根へ向かった。－美しい山の麓にある、富士山の陰にかくれた温泉地。－1日の休暇。その日は涼しくて、曇り、そして、タクシーは上昇して、私たちを旅館へと連れて行った。霧と霧雨が私たちを包み、素晴らしい露天風呂には完璧な日だ。食事はお腹にも目にもごちそうだった。私たちの仲居のみちこさんは本当にやさしい人だった。彼女はメンバーの女子（クリスティーナとジェシカ）には英語で、私には日本語で話してくれた。彼女は、ビートルズの「ミシェール」を歌った後、私を（マイケルよりも）優雅な名前、「ミシェール」と呼んでくれた。

DAY 5, 6, and 7 - to Kyoto
５，６、そして7日目　京都へ。

Once again, hopping on a bullet train, we made our way to that venerable, historic city...Kyoto. As it was another day off for us, we hooked up　with my friend Satomi, and went sightseeing. In Japan cherry blossom viewing is a national institution, and timing one's visit to coincide with this auspicious event, which lasts only about a week, can be tricky. But somehow, we ended up here at exactly the right time - It is truly a soul-inspiring, beautiful thing to experience.
再び新幹線に乗り、尊い、歴史的な都市、京都へ向かった。もう1日のオフなので、私の友人さとみさんと合流して、観光した。お花見は日本の国家行事で、花見を楽しめるタイミングは偶然と幸運に因る。花のピークは1週間くらいしか続かない。しかし、なぜか、私たちはここに、完璧なタイミングで来た。－本当に、魂に訴える、美しい体験だった。

The show in Kyoto was a BLAST! The other bands were a lot of fun - a goth/metal band called G.I.F.Liquidbrains, a masked dynamic trio that reminded me of Aquabats... There were some great friends I'd met on previous trips to Kyoto, some new ones from MySpace and MIXI, and a great crowd all in all...
京都のライブは、素晴らしかった!　競演バンドは、とても楽しかった。－G.I.F.Liquidbrainsというゴス/メタルバンドで仮面をかぶったダイナミックなトリオでAquabatsを思い起こした。前回の今日と旅行で知り合った友人と、MySpaceとMixiで知り合った人たち、そして、素晴らしい観客．．．．

Day 8 – Osaka
8日目　－大阪

We trained from Kyoto to Osaka (about 45 minutes) and played at a beautiful downtown club called the Flamingo.
電車に45分乗って、京都から大阪に行き、ダウンタウンのきれいなクラブ、the Flamingoで演奏した。

Fashionistas

During the tour, we've been paired with everything from "Sonic Death Monkeys" metal bands, to punk-pop-goth bouncing bettys. But the truth is, the level of talent here is amazing. Happily, the lineup of bands tonight was awesome - the acoustic guitar and percussion of "Sumpler Numpler" and the beautiful, Enigma-meets-Enya music of "Cojok."
このツアー中、私たちは、メタルバンドSonic Death Monkeysから、パンクポップゴスや飛び跳ねまくりのbettysｍまで、あらゆるバンドと競演した。彼らの才能には驚いた。幸運なことに今夜の競演は、素晴らしい、アコースティックギターとパーカッションのSumpler Numplerと謎めいたエンヤっぽいCojokだった。

DAY 9 Osaka and Kobe
We started out the day with a trip to the infamous Osaka Castle, and the breathtaking surrounding park...
9日目　大阪と神戸
私たちは、この日の始め、有名な大阪城と息を飲むほどきれいな大阪城公園へ行った。

Then Duane drove us to Kobe (about an hour) for the show at Pi:z Kobe. The fans and other bands were AWESOME!!!
それからDuaneは神戸へ1時間ほど運転して私たちをPi:z Kobeへ連れて行ってくれた。ファンと、競演バンドは素晴らしかった!!!

DAY 10 - To Nagoya
We rode in the tour van from Osaka to Nagoya (about 2 hours) and got to the MUSIC FARM in time for sound check.
10日目　－名古屋
大阪から名古屋まで、ロードバンで2時間ほどの旅でthe MUSIC FARMでのサウンドチェックに間に合った。

It was a rockin last show for the tour, then went out to celebrate, and back to the Sakae/downtown area where our hotel was.
ツアーの最後のショーで、その後、打ち上げに行って、栄町のホテルに戻った。

DAY 11- Going home
11日目　－帰国
After a last breakfast together at the hotel in Nagoya, we board a shuttle to Nagoya airport. As we speed by countless nearby buildings, signs, and cars, I notice the distant mountains, relatively constant by contrast. I think of the many new friends and acquaintances we've made, and the places that have come and gone, and also the handful of truly enduring, faithful friends I've made over　the last few years there. Hiro san, who set up a show in Tokyo, took us out the first night, sent us all beautiful, gift-wrapped, Japanese geisha dolls to our hotel in Nagoya, and lent his constant support by phone, email, and in his good heart.
名古屋のホテルでの最後の朝食の後、名古屋空港へのシャトルに乗った。数え切れないほどのビルや看板や車が通り過ぎる景色の中で、遠くに、海岸に沿った山の景色に気づいた。私は沢山の友人や知人、訪れた土地、ここ数年でできた長い間信頼できる友人のことを考えた。ひろさん、東京のショーをアレンジし、一日目の夜観光に連れて行ってくれた、そして、名古屋にホテルにいる私たちに、芸者人形を美しい包みで贈ってくれた。ひろさんは、継続的な電話とメールと温かい心でサポートしてくれた。

And of Satomi, who took us sightseeing in Kyoto, went to all four of the shows in the Kansai region, some as far away as 2 hours by train, brought us presents, and made sure we were never wanting for anything.
さとみさん、私たちを京都の観光に連れて行ってくれ、関西と名古屋の全４ライブに来てくれた。場所によっては、電車で2時間もかかるのに。プレゼントをくれて、必要な物は全て用意してくれた。

Back in San Francisco, Atsuko was the one who set up most of the shows, booked the hotels, and scolded me for my poor Japanese
サンフランシスコのあつこは、ほとんどのショーをセットアップし、ホテルを予約し、私の下手な日本語を叱ってくれた(笑)

The true worth of this tour was not in how many shows we packed the house, although we did; not in the number of CDs I sold, although I did; and definitely not in the money that was made – quite the contrary – touring Japan is a costly endeavor. But the true worth of this tour, for me, was the reaction I got when everynight on stage (in Japanese) I would say that "I hope that Japan and America become better friends." Every night, that line would get a round of cheers and applause – even from the most jaded kids. And that is what this tour has been all about. Right there. Right now. Be here now.
今回のツアーは、ショーの数や、CDの売り上げや、利益が本当の価値ではない。反対に、日本ツアーは経済的にきつかった。本当の価値は、毎ショーごとに、ステージから私が日本語で伝えたメッセージに対する人々の反応だった。「日本とアメリカがもっと友好的になるように願います」毎晩、観客からこのメッセージに対し、励ましと喝采をもらった。態度の最も悪いガキ（失礼！）からでさえも。そして、これが、今回のツアーの全てだった。Right there. Right now.　今、この瞬間に。

韓国のツーア

今朝は何の努力をしなくても起きられた。寝ていたけれど半分起きていたような、またはその反対のような。　いつものように、飛行機の中で目が覚めて、空の上から自分の町を見下ろす。その町は自分が地上にいるときに見る町と同じ。でも、空の上から見ると、それは遠景で、意識半分で人生を生きているような（人生を遠景で見ているような）感じ。そして今、私はこの飛行機の中で、自分の町ではなく、太平洋の上、韓国に向かっている。
私は台所や、コーヒーを入れることや、１７歳のときに行ったバス旅行、シカゴからロサンゼルス（約束の地）へと、家を初めて離れた旅のことを思い出す。ギターとスーツケースを抱えて。バスに乗っているさまざまな人たち。私は、安っぽい、しわしわのスーツを着て、スーツケースを持った男を思い出す。そのスーツケースは酒瓶でいっぱいだったと後で分かったけれど！　あの頃は、何もかもがクールに見えた。　なりゆきにまかせ、ルールを破った。自分の信念の殉教者。
何年もの間考えたこともなかったあの旅のことを、今朝思い出すのは奇妙だ。一方で、とても納得がいく。なぜなら、今私は、ギターとスーツケースを抱えて約束の地に行こうとしているから。私たちはたった今、新しい約束の地を見つけたのだから、人生というのはおもしろい。でもこれは、パーティでもなくディスコでもなく、韓国だった。強烈なプライド、断固たる強さ、敗北と、それにも係わらず、またすぐに立ち上がってきた歴史に満ちた国。全体的に見、典型的な、やさしい、守られたアメリカンライフを送っている私は、韓国の人々に畏怖の念を抱き、恐れ、そして魅了されている。
そして、韓国の人々は私をどう思うだろうか？今、この新しいアルバムとビデオをアンビバレントな韓国にリリースした後、実際に韓国に向かっている。賞賛と、感謝と、祝いの、そして、非難の手紙。「背景」がなければ、自分でも、それは、またいつもの、アメリカ人によるアジア文化のステレオタイプに見える。しかし、実際は、私の音楽や、ビデオや、メッセージなど全ては、文化の理解と交流への大事な貢献だ。しかし、韓国の人々は、私をどう思うだろうか？私は、尊敬されるだろうか。ののしられるだろうか。それとも、ただ、無視されるだけだろうか。これは、３０何年前にロサンゼルスに行ったときと同じように、大きな賭けだ。あまり期待はしていなかったけれど、その時がきたら、私は虎のように立ち上がる。この、「イベント」は、私を、家から逃げた、不恰好で柔なティーンエージャーに戻す。そして、現在の私（このツアーにかかわる人々、私の会社の従業員、そして、ここに乗せるメッセージに対する責任を持つ）を隠す。そうだ、リスクは大きいけれど、報いも大きい。

DAY 3 - Panmunjeom and the Demilitarized Zone - Separating North and South Korea. This building, and this table, straddle the border between North and South Korea. The center line of the table is the border, so I can say that for a brief, shining moment, I was in North Korea...
DAY3 - パンミュンジョンと軍備かされていない地域　－　朝鮮と韓国を分かつ地域。このビルとテーブルは朝鮮と韓国にまたがっている。中央の線が、国境。一瞬、瞬く間だが、私は朝鮮にいたと言える。

My heart raced, and the hairs on the back of my neck stood up when the bridge came into view. It was a feeling I can't describe. Deep inside. And an eiry sense of deja vu after filming the video on "our" bridge in So. California that looks so much like this.橋が視界に入ってきたとき、心臓は早く打ち、襟足の髪は逆立った。説明できない気持ち。私の深いところで。南カリフォルニアで「私たちの」橋のビデオを撮影したあとで、（実際の橋と南カリフォルニアの橋は似ているので）デ・ジャ・ヴのような感覚に陥った。

DAY 5 - BAND ON THE RUN
or
TO HELL IN A HANBOK
I've done life on the road, but never like this. It's about 1pm on Sunday, and I'm sitting in my hotel room in Seoul, waiting for a phone call that will decide the outcome of this tour.いろいろな経験をしたけれど、こんなことは初めて。今、日曜日の午後１時で、ソウルのホテルの部屋で、このツアーの成果を決定する電話を待っている。
Yesterday, we were booked into a Seoul club called FunkyFunky at 9, but had an invitation to come back to the club we played at on Thursday, for an encore performance earlier. So we hustled down to this club (Freebird), and sat...and waited...while other bands sound checked, rehearsed, etc. It became so late that we had to bail and head over to FF. 昨日、私たちは、ソウルの FunkyFunkyというクラブに9時にライブの予約があった。しかし、木曜日に演奏したクラブのアンコールとして、再度演奏のリクエストもあった。私たちはクラブ、Freebirdに急ぎ、他のバンドがサウンドチェックとリハーサルをする間、待っていた。時間がとても遅くなったので、私たちはクラブFunkyFunkyに戻らなければならなかった。

Then, we get to FF, and find we were misbooked into a PUNK club, had no guitar tech, as promised, and asked to play 2nd, not headline. But the show must go on, クラブFunkyFunkyに戻った後、私たちは間違えて、パンクのクラブに予約されていたことが分かった。約束のギターテクはいない、トップではなく、2番目に演奏するように言われた。しかし、何があっても、ショウは続けなければならない。

So, 2 seconds after the last note of the last song, feeling lucky we weren't stoned to death by the testosterone-laiden ex-pat/english teacher punk crowd, we made our way out the door. The club owner follows us out, and says 'where's my money?" (in Korean - we had our awesome guide - Jinney with us to interpret). I laughed, and laid out what our agreement was, how they didn't come through with any of the promised items on our agreement, and said 'we're leaving.' So, the 4 of us hightail it out of the club, with all our in hand, and pick up speed as we make our way down the street. Tanner breaks into a rousing version of McCartney's "Band on the Run," and soon, all of us were singing along as we sped away from the scene of the crime…最後の曲の紹介の２秒後、私たちは、ハードコアパンクの群集の中で、石のように固まることなく演奏できたことをラッキーに思いながら、クラブを後にした。クラブのオーナーがついて来て、「金払え」。（私たちには、ジニーというすばらしいガイド件通訳がいた）。私は笑った、そして、契約を持ち出して、彼に、契約通りになっていないことを言った。そして、私たちは失礼する、と、彼に言った。私たち4人は、最速で一目散に駆け出した。タナーはマッカートニーの"Band on the Run," を歌いだし、すぐに私たち全員は、逃げる間、タナーと一緒に歌った。
Well, he calls the so-called booking agent, who calls Jinney, and threatens to have us detained at the airport. Being a Korean-only speaker, I had to argue with him through Jinney (which was so unfair to her). I finally instructed her to take the money back to the club owner and wash our hands of this whole deal. 彼は、ブッキング・エージェントというが、そして、ジニーに電話で、私たちを空港で捕まえると、脅したが。私一人だけが韓国語を話せるので、ジニーを通して、私は、彼を言い合いをしなければならなかった（ジニーにはとても、アンフェアだった）。私はとうとう、クラブの責任者にお金を返すよう、ジニーに言って、この件は終わった。
But that leaves tonight's show hanging in the balance. After a sleepless night, walking around the streets of Seoul, I decided to put it back in their lap - we'll play if they agree to the terms of the original agreement, 今夜のショウをどうするか、分からない事態に陥った。眠れない夜の後、ソウルの街を歩き回り、私は、彼らが、オリジナルの契約とおりにするのなら、お金を払うということに決めた。

Happily, I got on famously with the owner of the first club - Freebird, and we've got our finger on the pulse of what's really going down in this town for future tours for us, and I hope for more western bands. And I hope my experience can guide those to come after me, and avoid making the same mistakes as I've made. 幸いなことに、最初のクラブ、Freebirdといい関係を作り、この町、ソウルで実は何が起こっているのか、将来のツアーの為に、私たちそして、他の、外国からのバンドの為にも、知ることができた。そして、私が犯した間違いを繰り返さないように、他のバンドの為に私の経験が役立つように願う。
Final note - the girls in the band have been awesome, and Jinney has been a saint. And I've met some great new friends here. And, I hope, reached a few with our message of international friendship and exchange. I'm told that the hotel here played our music all day long yesterday. I'm glad we were out. DAY 6
WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKES全く違う1日。
I think Asian people have an admirable way of sweeping the past under the rug, and focusing on the now, and preserving the 'relationship.' To many, the "relationship" is the most important thing ・whether it's business, friendship, family, whatever. In this spirit, I received a call from the
agent, who turns out not to be an "agent" at all. He is a volunteer for a non-profit organization called CCA, or Club Cuture Association..アジアの人々は、過去を洗い流して、今現在の関係を守ることに集中する、賞賛すべき方法を持っていると思う。多くの人にとって、関係は、仕事であろうが、友人であろうが、　家族であろうが、大変重要だ。　エージェントから（後で、彼はCCA－Club Cuture Associationのボランティアで、エージェントでもなんでもないと分かったけれど）電話があった。

All the booking, the endless phone calls and questions from us in the weeks/months before the tour, he fielded for free. So, he calls and asks me to read the email he just sent, explaining all this, explaining the problems we'd had, and genuinely, deeply apologetic, and hopeful for working together in the future. So, I agree to meet with him at the club du jour ・"Club TA" that evening. Jinney came by the hotel early and came up to my room with her friend "Hyon Li."全ての予約、何ヶ月、何週間も前からの、私たちからの限りない電話の問い合わせなどを、彼は無料でやっていた。彼は電話で、今送ったeメールを読むように私に言った。そして、全てのことと、問題を真摯に説明し、謝った。そして、将来また、一緒に仕事をしたいと言った。私はその夕方、club du jour "Club TA"で彼と会うことに同意した。ジェニーは彼女の友人のHyon Liと早めにホテルに来た。

I made them tea and had a nice visit before heading out into the late afternoon. Jinney said she'd never been served tea before by an American. 私は彼らにお茶をもてなし、午後遅くライブハウスに行く前に、いい時間を過ごした。ジニーは、アメリカ人にお茶をもてなしてもらったのは初めてだと言っていた。

Walking into Club Ta, we felt like we were walking into a land of make-believe. Thoughtfully decorated in warm, Moroccan/Indian d馗or, we were greeted with a friendly and appreciative English-speaking club owner named "Kiu." He greeted us with presents, introduced us to his staff, brought ice water and we got set up and did sound check with the smoothest sounding PA system in recent history! This was amazing!
Club Taに入っていくとき、私たちは、まるで、何でも実現する所に来たような感じがした。私たちは、暖かい感じのモロッコ、インド風のドアを通って、オーナーのキウに、フレンドリーで感謝のこもった挨拶を頂いた。私たちは、彼からプレゼントをもらい、スタッフに紹介してもらい、冷たい水の入ったグラスをもらった。そして、近年に無いくらい、順調なPAシステムでサウンドチェックをした。全く素晴らしかった。

I was in the "band lounge" off the side of the stage, when the "agent" showed up and popped his smiling face through the gauzy curtain separating the room from the stage. We had a truly gratifying meeting. He, too, is interested in, and works to bring about cultural exchange, and brought gifts of CDs, DVDs, etc. and spoke at length about how things worked, and why things happened the way they did to us. And of course, again, profusely apologized. I reciprocated with gifts for him and the club owner, and shared a warm, genuine conversation with him. When he left I realized we
had not only salvaged our relationship, but established a rapport that will enable us to continue to work together on this idea of cultural exchange in the future. バンドラウンジにいた時、ステージとラウンジの間のガーゼのカーテンから、「エージェント」が笑顔で入ってきた。私たちは、本当に満足の行く話し合いを持った。彼も文化交流に興味を持ち、その仕事をし、CDやDVDなどのプレゼントを私に持ってきた。彼は、現状と、なぜ、このようになっているのかについて話した。彼は、やたら謝っていた。私はプレゼントのお返しを彼とクラブオーナーにした。そして、暖かい、真摯な会話を彼とした。彼と別れたとき、私たちは、仲直りをしただけでなく、将来、文化交流の仕事を一緒にする為のよい関係を作れたことに気づいた。
After a memorable meal with Jinney at a chicken soup (samgyetang) restaurant that Christina was focused on going to, we made it back to the club, and enjoyed the sets of two acoustic, Korean "boy-bands" before us.クリスティーナが行きたがっていた、chicken soup (samgyetang) レストランでの思い出深い食事の後、クラブに戻り、私たちの前の"boy-bands"という、2人編成ののアコースティックの演奏を楽しんだ。
Our set went well, and I continue to be gratified at the response from audiences at what I'm saying (In Korean) between the songs. It's a simple message ・I hope that Korea and America can be friends ・but they always
cheer and shout when I say that. I'm very happy. 私たちの演奏をうまく行き、私は、曲の間の私の韓国語のトークへの観客の反応に満足した。それは、シンプルなメッセージだった。「韓国とアメリカが友達になれますように。」私はそれを言うたびに、観客から喝采をあびた。私はとてもうれしい。
>From there, we quickly made it to Seoul Tower just before the lastelevator of the night ascended into the heavens above the amazing Seoul skyline at night. そこから、私たちは、ソウルタワーへ急いだ。そして、驚くべき、天国のようなソウルの夜景を見るために、最後のエレベーターで上がっていった。
After saying goodnight to Jinney back at our hotel, the 3 of us found the perfect, late-night dive restaurant called the "Matching Mole." ・a comfortable place for us to make fools of ourselves in relative obscurity one last time together. Oh, and the food was pretty good, too.ホテルでジニーにさよならを言った後、私たち3人は、 "Matching Mole"という、深夜潜り込むのにパーフェクトなレストランを見つけた。そこは、私たちが自分たちのことを自嘲するのに良い所だった。食べ物も、わりと良かった。

DAY 7
After one last morning, engaged in our respective Korean diversions (me, at Jogyesa doing temple bows, the girls out for one last mini-shopping spree), we check out of the hotel (to the sounds of our music playing over the hotel sound system. Actually, it sounds OK to me this morning), we say our goodbyes, and make our way to Incheon airport. One last meal of bibimbap, and we're on the plane heading east at 30,000 feet. 最後の朝を迎え、韓国の娯楽を楽しみ（私はJogyesaという所で弓を引き、バンドの女子は最後のミニショッピングの浮かれ騒ぎ）。私たちはホテルをチェックアウトした。（そして、ずっとホテルで流れていた、私たちの音楽にも、チェックアウトした。本当のところ、その朝は、その音楽に対して、まぁまぁと思っていた）。私たちはさよならを言い、Incheon空港に向かった。最後の食事はビビンバで、私たちは、30,000フィート上空を東へ向かった。

新しいCD-The Bridge of No Return

みんなさん、お久しぶりです。
今、私は新しいCD の仕事をしています。私はプロデュサDavid Longoria（U2,Sting,Train...)と一緒に仕事しています。
毎週末僕はLAへ行きますなぜならレコヂングしているからです。楽しみです。
このCDは四曲があります。
”初めまして”－私の初めての日本の旅行についてです。
”I Let Her In”は日本語と英語の歌です。東京で、特別な女の人との出会いについてです。
”America"は私の国についてです、そしてアメリカの状態。今、ちょっと心配していますが。。。
”Bridge of No Return"　（橋で戻らない）は韓国と北朝鮮の間にある橋についてです。悲しいと思いますが。今、そこはたくさんの緊張があります。これは新しい経験です。プロのプロデュサと録音スタジオとミュジシャンと一生に仕事しています。本当に、光栄ですよ！
この週末はギターのパートをしたりVocal Coachと一緒に仕事していました。頑張りますよ！

この週末に、私たちはビデオを作るつもりです。HollywoodのSound Arenaで作ります。嬉しいですよ！アンニさん（Keyboards/Vocals)とジョンニさん（Bass guitar)の一緒に作ります。５曲をプロモーションためにします。日本と韓国と中国のRecord Companyとライブために遣います。
では、みきさんはCamera operatorをします。そして、四つビデオCameraがあります！楽しみにしています。

カリフォルニア州サンノゼ在住、80年代にアメリカンハードロックバンドFemmeFataleのリードギタリストとしてUSAメジャーデビュー。その後一時期ミュージシャンとしての活動を休止するが2000年に元々自分のジャンルであるアコースティックにギターを持ち替えCDをリリース、今回のYourWorldはそんな彼のアルバムYOUR WORLDのタイトルになった曲。
日本が大好きな彼は今まで2回のJapan Tourを行っており、今後本格的なライブツアーを行う予定もある。
